Halloween is our favorite time of year at Mimish, and for good reason! There’s no pressure to be perfect; it’s all about dressing up, indulging in sweet treats, dancing the night away, and having a blast with family and friends. Whether you’re trick-or-treating around the neighborhood, in your apartment building, or within a community, Halloween is a perfect way to connect with neighbors, share smiles, and create lasting memories. We say: Go all out and have the best Halloween ever!
Here are some of our favorite tips that we use for our own parties. Invite your kids, their friends, parents, and even extended family. Halloween parties, for us, always have an open-door policy! We host ours in our building’s common party room, and everyone is welcome to drop by throughout the day. Here’s how to throw a spook-tacular party that’s fun for all ages.
Encourage everyone—yes, even the adults—to dress up in their favorite costumes. Whether they want to go all out as their favorite movie character, a spooky ghoul, or a classic ghost, Halloween is the time to embrace creativity and fun. You’ll get a mix of superheroes, vampires, princesses, and mummies, which always adds to the festive vibe.
Music is the heart of every great party. For Halloween, combine upbeat pop and dance hits with some creepy, nostalgic classics. We always include:
The Monster Mash – A Halloween essential.
Songs from Beetlejuice – With a special nod to the legendary Harry Belafonte (his “Jump in the Line” is always a hit!).
Tracks from The Nightmare Before Christmas – A fun mix of whimsy and spookiness.
Thriller by Michael Jackson – Because no Halloween is complete without a group dance to this iconic song.
Throw in some current hits, and you’ve got a playlist that will have everyone dancing from dusk until the witching hour.
Set up a few craft tables with supplies that let kids’ imaginations run wild! Some of our favorite spooky crafts include:
Bug bags with plastic creepy crawlies like spiders, snakes, and eyeballs.
Glow sticks and necklaces that are always a hit—great for both crafting and wearing while trick-or-treating.
Pumpkin painting or decorating with fun, easy-to-use stickers, googly eyes, and markers.
Kids can create their own eerie masterpieces while parents enjoy mingling, keeping the fun going for all ages.
Food can be the highlight of a Halloween party, so have fun with it! We like to include festive treats such as:
Witch Hat Cookies and Monster Cupcakes for the kids—adorable and delicious!
Mummy Hot Dogs (pigs in a blanket wrapped to look like mummies).
Ghost-shaped pizzas with mozzarella ghost cutouts. And for the adults, take it up a notch with a:
“Bloody” Mary Station – Garnished with candied bacon, pickles, and other savory treats. It’s the perfect spooky sip for grown-ups.
For some inspiration, we love checking out Halloween menus from Martha Stewart to make the food just as festive as the decorations.
A Halloween party isn’t complete without a few games:
Pin the Hat on the Witch is a fun twist on the classic “Pin the Tail on the Donkey.”
Pumpkin Bowling using mini pumpkins and empty soda bottles wrapped in ghostly white paper.
Bobbing for Apples—an oldie but a goodie.
You can also host a costume contest with fun prizes for categories like “Most Creative,” “Funniest,” and “Spookiest” costumes!
If your party falls on Halloween itself, organize a trick-or-treat walk through your neighborhood or building. It's a fun way for kids to gather candy, show off their costumes, and meet new friends. Plus, adults get to enjoy the creativity that goes into the neighborhood's decorations.
At Mimish we love creating lasting memories with our family and friends through these fun traditions. Halloween is all about having fun, sharing laughter, and making the most out of one magical night. So gather your loved ones, get dressed up, and throw a party that’s sure to be remembered!
Whether you’re hosting or attending, the most important part of any Halloween party is to let loose and enjoy the moment. From the littlest ghouls to the grown-up monsters, Halloween is the one night of the year where everyone can embrace the fun and spooky spirit.
So, here’s to the best Halloween ever—Say Yes to New Adventures, especially the ones filled with ghosts and goblins!
